GLASS MELTING
Glass melting furnace molybdenum electrode
Rod Ø20–100mm | Length ≤1500mm | Current density 1–3 A/cm²
WeiBeam · Electrode solutions for high-temperature melting
Molybdenum electrodes are used in electric boosting and all-electric melting of container glass, packaging glass, pharmaceutical glass, and photovoltaic and electronic glass. The electrodes are installed in the sidewall or furnace bottom and pass current directly through the glass melt, raising melting capacity and improving temperature uniformity. Selection should account for furnace tonnage, melt temperature, power supply configuration and electrode layout. Standard rods are Ø20–100mm and up to 1500mm long, operated at 1–3 A/cm², with a long-term working temperature of about 1300 °C and stable resistance to glass-melt corrosion.
We provide selection support and custom machining. Materials include pure molybdenum, lanthanum-doped molybdenum and TZM. Diameters, lengths and threaded connections can be produced to drawings, and high-purity samples can be trialled on your production line.
In high-temperature melting and thermal-field systems this part is often used alongside electrodes elsewhere in the line. We recommend selecting them together against furnace structure, assembly method and working temperature to reduce thermal-expansion mismatch between different materials.

FAQ
Common questions
Selection, customization and quotation questions.
How do I select electrodes for a glass furnace?
Start with furnace tonnage, melt temperature, power supply and electrode layout. Rods are typically Ø20–100mm at 1–3 A/cm². Once we have the furnace parameters, our engineers recommend electrode layout and dimensions.
How much does one molybdenum electrode rod cost?
Price depends on diameter, length, material (pure Mo, MoLa or TZM) and quantity, so it must be quoted per specification. Share the furnace parameters and required sizes and we will quote against current material supply.
Can you machine electrodes to my drawings?
Yes. We machine diameter, length, threads and connections to drawings, including non-standard shapes, and supply a mill certificate with full batch traceability.
