ELECTROLYSIS

Rare-earth electrolysis molybdenum electrode

High-purity Mo ≥99.95% | Rod, plate or threaded | Molten-salt erosion resistant

WeiBeam · Electrode solutions for high-temperature melting

These electrodes are used in high-temperature molten-salt electrolysis cells for rare-earth metals. In fluoride melts, the electrode must withstand both high temperature and salt corrosion, and its conduction stability directly affects current efficiency and product quality. Purity and density requirements are high: molybdenum content is usually ≥99.95% to limit impurities entering the salt system, while a dense structure resists salt corrosion and keeps the process stable.

We customize these electrodes in rod, plate or threaded forms, with dimensions set by cell design and power supply. Sample testing and technical support are available.

In high-temperature melting and thermal-field systems this part is often used alongside electrodes elsewhere in the line. We recommend selecting them together against furnace structure, assembly method and working temperature to reduce thermal-expansion mismatch between different materials.

FAQ

Common questions

Selection, customization and quotation questions.

How are rare-earth electrolysis electrodes customized?

Customization requires the cell structure, current configuration, electrode dimensions and connection method. Provide drawings or parameters and we confirm material, diameter, length and thread form, with sample trials before batch supply where needed.

What purity does molten-salt electrolysis require?

Salt systems are sensitive to impurities, so Mo ≥99.95% is recommended to limit Si, Al, Fe, C and O, which helps stabilize electrolysis and product quality.

How is electrode loss controlled in molten-salt cells?

Loss depends on current density, salt chemistry and melt level. Controlling current density, keeping the level stable and using a dense structure help reduce loss and extend service life; the actual case should be evaluated on site.
