Quartz and optical glass molybdenum electrode

Low C/O impurities | Rod or plate | All-electric and boosting compatible

WeiBeam · Electrode solutions for high-temperature melting

These electrodes serve the melting of quartz glass, optical glass and glass-ceramic, where transmission, homogeneity and impurity levels are tightly specified. As the heating electrode in contact with the melt, electrode purity directly affects final quality. Electrodes for these duties need strict control of carbon, oxygen and other impurities plus a dense structure to limit contamination. Quartz glass furnaces typically use all-electric melting, with electrodes working steadily in glass melt at about 1300 °C.

We customize rod and plate forms to the furnace and melting process, advise on all-electric and boosting configurations, and support sample testing.

In high-temperature melting and thermal-field systems this part is often used alongside electrodes elsewhere in the line. We recommend selecting them together against furnace structure, assembly method and working temperature to reduce thermal-expansion mismatch between different materials.

FAQ

Common questions

Selection, customization and quotation questions.

Do quartz glass furnaces need especially pure electrodes?

Yes. Quartz and optical glass are sensitive to transmission and homogeneity, so carbon, oxygen and metallic impurities in the electrode must be tightly controlled. We recommend Mo ≥99.95% with composition test data to standard.

How much does an electrode rod cost?

Price depends on diameter, length, material and order quantity and must be quoted per specification. Provide the required sizes and we will quote against current supply and machining requirements.

Rod or plate electrodes for optical glass melting?

It depends on furnace structure and power supply. All-electric furnaces commonly use rods along the bottom or sidewall, while some processes use plates. With furnace parameters our engineers can recommend layout and dimensions.
