How to Check an Electrode Delivery: Self-Inspection Points from WeiBeam
WeiBeam · Electrode solutions for high-temperature melting
Responding to the delivery checks customers ask about most often, WeiBeam has organized documents, appearance and dimensions, and nonconformance feedback into self-inspection points, so receiving staff can work step by step and reduce back-and-forth caused by incomplete information.
Recently some customers have asked about the sequence for checking a delivery, so WeiBeam has drawn on common feedback to organize self-inspection into three sets of points that receiving staff can follow step by step. The points do not replace the contract and drawings, but they help the site gather all the information in one pass.
Documents match the goods
Check the delivery note, material certificate, contract number, grade, specification and quantity, then compare them with the marking on the electrode ends. Where an order covers several specifications, tick each carton against the packing list to avoid mixing batches. If documents have not arrived with the goods, carry out the visual inspection first, but complete the paperwork before warehousing and note it on the acceptance form.
Appearance and dimensions are recorded
Photograph the packaging condition, then check for surface cracks, scratches, oxidation stains and thread condition. Record the dimensional sampling data on the acceptance form, noting the gauge number and measurement position. The reference range for diameter and length tolerance follows the drawing; the site should not judge by feel alone.
| Item | Parameter notes |
|---|---|
| Material and purity | Pure molybdenum / lanthanum-doped molybdenum / TZM available; Mo content ≥99.95% |
| Common specifications | Rod diameter Φ20–100mm, length 150–1500mm (custom sizes available to drawing) |
| Applicable standards | YS/T 1312-2019 Molybdenum Electrodes; molybdenum rods per ASTM B387 / GB/T 17792, molybdenum plates and discs per ASTM B386 / GB/T 3876 |
Nonconformance feedback carries information
When a problem is found, the feedback should include the order number, batch number, package number, photographs and measurement data. Complete information reduces confirmation exchanges and also makes it easier to identify whether the problem arose in production, packaging or transport.
How to manage the pending-inspection area
Electrodes that have not been checked should be kept in the pending-inspection area with a pending tag, not mixed with accepted goods. That area also needs raised, moisture-protected storage so that electrodes do not sit on the floor for long while documents are awaited. Once checking is complete, move them promptly to the accepted or nonconformance area, which reduces congestion on site and makes stocktaking easier.
If a customer wants to use these points for internal training, a gauge list and frequently asked questions can be added to suit the characteristics of their own orders. For example, sampling positions for different furnace types and thread protection methods can be written into the template. WeiBeam also welcomes feedback on checking difficulties encountered on site, so that future notes can be written closer to actual practice.
These points are only a baseline; where the contract sets special requirements, the contract and drawings take precedence. Flagging the special requirements separately prevents the site from applying general practice.
Once documents, goods and records are complete, the acceptance form is signed separately by the receiver and the reviewer, with photographed copies retained. This allows the same standard to be applied later even after staff changes.
To request a self-inspection form template or to check a specific specification, contact details are on the manufacturer information page; for electrode structure and common specifications, see the selection points for this duty first.
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean for the documents to match the goods?
If documents have not arrived with the goods, carry out the visual inspection first, complete the paperwork before warehousing, and note it on the acceptance form. Where an order covers several specifications, tick each carton against the packing list to avoid mixing batches.
How are appearance and dimensions recorded?
Record the dimensional sampling data on the acceptance form, noting the gauge number and measurement position. Photograph the packaging condition, then check for surface cracks, scratches, oxidation stains and thread condition.
What information should a nonconformance report include?
Complete information reduces confirmation exchanges and also makes it easier to identify whether the problem arose in production, packaging or transport. When a problem is found, the feedback should include the order number, batch number, package number, photographs and measurement data.
